Visitor Visa

visitor visa

A temporary resident visa (TRV) is required for any temporary purpose. This includes studying in Canada, working in Canada, and visiting Canada. Temporary residents are foreign nationals who are legally able to visit Canada for temporary purposes.

  • Visitor visas usually allow foreign nationals to stay in Canada for up to 6 months
  • Keep in mind that you can always extend your visa to stay in Canada longer.
  • Some foreign nationals from certain countries do not require a visitor visa to visit Canada. Instead, they need an electronic Travel Authorization (eTA).

    • Have their child or grandchild to show proof of funds that will be used to support them financially during their stay
    • Have a medical insurance that is valid in Canada for at least a year
